The Otto Berchem Show 1995 Installation/Performance
THE OTTO BERCHEM SHOW was a project initially conceived for the three days of the Open Studios of the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten in Amsterdam. There was one 50-minutes-long show, with commercials, for each day. Each show he had a different group of guests, discussing a different topic in front of a live audience. The guests were artists, some working at the academy, some from outside the academy. Each show also included “experts”, who were critics, curators or writers. The audience’s participation was key. For those who were not part of the “live experience”,the show was broadcast within the building to the two coffee corners. There people could watch the show at their own discretion, in a kind of informal green room.
